Who we are and what we do
According to a research paper produced on Disabled Students’ Allowances by the Department for Education in January 2019, there is considerable confusion among students about what DSA’s are for and whether or not they are eligible to apply, particularly among those with mental health conditions and long-term conditions. Students’ experiences with going through the application process combined with doubts about their eligibility, can deter them from applying for DSAs.
The report concluded that the take up of DSA’s may not be optimal and that some students who could be eligible for support are not applying because the application process deters them.
With this in mind, the DSA Hub was created with the aim to provide students with all the information they need in one place; from applying for funding to finding their nearest assessment centre, disability officer and any other contacts that may help along the way.
